On December 1st, 2018, PROTECT Project 5’s Long Chen was promoted to Associate Research Scientist. After working under the leadership of Akram Alshawabkeh as a Post Doc since early December 2017, Long’s work ethic, leadership abilities, and accomplishments continue to guide his success.
In his new role, Long will be assuming the administrative responsibilities of the lab as well as helping lead a team of Ph.D. and undergraduate students in their ongoing research on green water remediation. He says that his favorite part of working with PROTECT is “The freedom I have to express my ideas. Also, Dr. Alshawabkeh is always pleased and encourages me when I want to collaborate with other scientists from different countries and universities.” Long will continue to collaborate on developing techniques for water treatment and disinfection and is currently looking to apply for patents and complete several publications in 2019.
Congratulations, Long!
