We are pleased to welcome several new team members: Long Chen, who will be working in the PROTECT lab as a Postdoctoral Research Associate, and Victor Florea, who will be working with our centers as a Public Health Specialist. Read on to learn about each of these talented individuals.

Long Chen

Long Chen earned his Ph.D. at the University of California, Riverside in 2017 with a focus on electro and biocatalysis. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree from Wuhan University of China, majoring in Environmental Science.  He has wide interests in biocatalysis, protein engineering, electrochemical disinfection, advanced oxidation, and any newly-invented water treatment techniques. 

Victor Florea

Victor Florea holds a Bachelor’s degree in Molecular, Cellular & Developmental Biology from the University of Washington and a Master of Public Health degree in Epidemiology and Global Health from Boston University School of Public Health. Victor has work experience as a research assistant at the King County Emergency Medical Services Department in Seattle and as an intern in the Department of Control of Neglected Tropical Diseases at the World Health Organization.
